Contemporary Compositional Techniques (6 points)

Synopsis: Techniques underpinning prominent styles and genres in contemporary musical composition. Topics of study will include the techniques and analysis of film music, modality, post production techniques for studio recorded music and a survey of computer generated music.

Assessment: Essay (2000 words): 40% + Essay/Analysis (1000 words): 20% + Essay (1000 words) 20% + Group activities and attendance (equivalent 500 words): 20%

Contact Hours: 2 hour lecture per week
