Ensemble Studies I (6 points)

Synopsis: (i) Ensemble rehearsals and performance of selected repertoire, and (ii) training in the materials and structures of music with an emphasis on their relationship to ensemble performance. Included will be related melodic, rhythmic, harmonic and contrapuntal relationships and formal structures and studies in the history and style of the selected repertoire.

Assessment: Participation in an approved ensemble as hurdle requirement + Written (2500 words): 40% + Concert performance/Practical examinations: 60%

Contact Hours: 3 hours (2.5 hours rehearsal and .5 hour tutorial) per week

Prerequisites: Audition
