Synopsis: Mechanical behaviour of polymers - viscoelastic deformation and fracture of polymers and elastomers; composites - strength, modulus, orientation dependence, fracture and laminate theory.

Assessment: Examinations (2 x 1.5 hours): 55% + Assignments: 12% + Laboratory work: 33%

Contact Hours: 2.5 lectures/tutorials plus 2.5 hours laboratory per week
