Health of women and children in developing countries (6 points)

Synopsis: Overview of women & children's health in developing countries using a life-cycle approach, including current health status of women, children & policy trends. Analysis of determinants in women's & children's health in poor communities, introduction of concepts in planning, implementation, management & evaluation of effective strategies to promote women's & children's health. Topics include gender analysis; reproductive health; maternal & neonatal health; nutrition; children's rights & protection issues; & ageing.

Assessment: Assignments + Group presentation + Short answer examination

Contact Hours: 6 x 2 weekday contact hours and 2 x 7 weekend contact hours

Off-campus attendance requirements: 6 x 2 weekday contact hours and 2 x 7 weekend contact hours
