Synopsis: The regulatory environment in which transport in Australia needs to be managed; international and domestic transport modes and carriers; documentation used in transport, especially international transport; whether to own or contract the transport function; when to replace a vehicle cost-effectively; the transport-warehouse interface; optimum number of vehicle docks for a warehouse; effective negotiation for freight rates, transport services or vehicles; performance measurement of the transport function.

Assessment: Site visit analysis: 20% + Oral syndicate case study presentation: 10% + Individual major assignment (4000 words): 40% + Quantitative methods work solutions: 30%
