Offered: Synopsis: On completion of this unit students should be able to: demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of midwifery for integrated practice delivery; provide individualised, holistic midwifery care that meets psychosocial and physical needs; demonstrate sound clinical decision making skills; demonstrate socio-cultural sensitivity when caring for women and their families; demonstrate competence in the provision of discerning, discriminating, safe midwifery care; function in accordance with the Australian College of Midwives Inc. Competency Standards for Midwives; critically evaluate socio-cultural, legal & ethical issues related to midwifery practice.
