Offered: Synopsis: This unit covers the roles, responsibilities, composition and functions of boards in the not-for-profit sector and the management performance and accountability challenges presented by these. Also examined is the legal framework in which not-for-profit organisations operate, the implications for management, including incorporation, director's duties, taxation, insolvency, property and contract law, and the relationships between these organisations and their stakeholders, including governments. Assessment: Essay (3500 words): 30% + Syndicate assignment (2000 words): 20% + Final assignment (4500 words): 50% Contact Hours: 3-hour class per week |
