Introduction to developmental disability (8 points)

Synopsis: As an introductory unit fundamental issues surrounding the health care of people who have developmental disabilities are explored within the context of the physician's role, the life stage of the patient and cultural influences. Students will acquire background information on the care of this population, develop appropriate attitudes reflective of contemporary practices, increase their networks and resource base and expand their clinical expertise in professional practice.

Assessment: Video + Essay + Reflective Journal (Pass/Fail only)
