Teaching and learning in health professional education (6 points)

Synopsis: Teachers have their own personal models of teaching and learning that are usually on a combination of their individual beliefs and previous experiences of being a teacher and also a learner. In this unit you will explore the theories that have been developed to classify, explain and describe different approaches to both teaching and learning. You will also be introduced to the main approaches to curriculum or course development and have the opportunity to critique these in relation to your own teaching and your own profession.

Assessment: Teaching practical and plan 40% Analytical paper 30% Electronic portfolio 30%

Contact Hours: The face-to-face component of the unit will be organized in five separate study days commencing at 0900 and finishing at 1630.
