Synopsis: This unit examines accounting as an information system. The information requirements of two major groups are examined - external users such as owners, shareholders, investors, potential investors; and internal users such as managers of an entity at various levels of responsibility. The first seven topics focus on financial accounting and interpretation and students develop their computer accounting skills, especially in spread sheeting and financial modelling. The second six topics focus on managerial accounting issues.

Assessment: Class presentation: 20% + Assignment: 25% + Examination (3 hours): 55% + Students must pass the examination to pass the unit
