Offered: Synopsis: The history of flight. Flight requirements for lighter than air, heavier than air and space flight vehicles. The standard atmosphere. Anatomy of a typical aircraft: major components and their operation. Force balances on flight vehicles including buoyancy, lift, drag and thrust. An introduction to Aerofoils: types and NACA numbers. Propulsive systems: types and their operation. An introduction space vehicles, their design and operation.
