LIN3370Aboriginal Languages of Australia (6 points)(ARTS) Leader: Dr Heather Bowe
Offered: Synopsis: An introduction to Australian Aboriginal languages covering features of phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and sociolinguistic issues including language status, bilingualism and the role of linguistics in language maintenance and revival. Assessment: Written research assignment (2250 words): 50% + Exam (2 hours): 40% + Class participation: 10% + Third year students will be required to show a greater degree of theoretical sophistication in the research assignment.
