The nature of securities. The regulation of the stock exchange, brokers and other dealers; proscribed market practices. The regulation of offerings of securities. The aims and objectives of takeover legislation. The regulation of takeovers.The policies and perspectives underlying these regimes. The impact of the legislative reforms currently occurring in this area.

Assessment: Optional written research assignment (3000 words): 30% Final examination (2 hours or 3 hours): 70% or 100%
