Synopsis: This unit provides an introduction to translation techniques, terminology and issues and contextual knowledge required in the discipline of translation. Emphasis is put on those aspects of language that are most relevant to translating.

Assessment: Translation assignment (2000 words): 50% + Final examination (2 hours): 30% + Class exercises: 20%

Contact Hours: 4 hours (2 x lectures and 2 x tutorials) fortnightly classes and 2 hours on-line discussion per week
