Advanced Japanese Reading Skills (6 points)

Synopsis: Develops skills in speed reading and comprehending a variety of texts in Japanese, including longer works than are included in other language untis at this level. Skills in summarising will be introduced and discussion sessions will focus on both textual and linguistic features and content.

Assessment: Mid-semester examination (50 minutes): 15% + Examination (2 hours): 35% + Class performance including regular quizzes 20% + Written assignments (equivalent to 1,500 words): 30%

Contact Hours: 4 hours (2 x 2 hour seminars) per week

Corequisites: JPL2410 or equivalent
