Synopsis: This unit aims to develop knowledge, strategies and skills to interact in Japanese, in situations likely to be encountered in Asutralia and Japan and to establish a firm foundation of linguistic, sociolinguistic and sociocultural knowledge which can be creatively applied in a variety of situations.

Assessment: Written test(s): 50% + Aural/oral tests: 25% + Quizzes and assignments: 25%

Contact Hours: 4 hours (1 hour lecture, 1 hour tutorial and 2 hour seminar) per week and two computer laboratory sessions per semester.
