Interpreting Current Events in Japanese and English B (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit constitutes the first stage of progressive training in consecutive interpreting with an emphasis on interpretation from Japanese to English and vice versa. The unit is interrelated to JIT4622 Interpreting B and consequently both units share the overall objective which is to train students to be able to perform at a professional level in a variety of English-Japanese interpreting situations.

Assessment: Assignments: 30% + Theory test (one hour written test): 10% + Mid-semester test (10 minutes for each individual student): 20% + End-of-semester test (30 minutes for each individual student): 40%

Contact Hours: 2 hours of workshop per week

Prerequisites: Monash post-level E Japanese or equivalent
