Intermediate Indonesian, Part 1 (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit develops and consolidates further students ability to communicate in the Indonesian language through three distinct learning formats: a one hour lecture/workshop which provides students with an approach to researching current Indonesian cultural and political issues with the aim of providing a series of briefings for a general audience; two one hour practicals which provide speaking and listening practice across a wide range of everyday communicative tasks; and a one hour tutorial which develops knowledge of language forms and the translation process within the context of a series of readings on cultural and political themes.

Assessment: Oral presentation (10 minutes): 20% + Media portfolio (800 words): 20% + Short tasks: 10% + Examination (2 hours): 50%

Contact Hours: 4 hours per week (one 1-hour lecture, one 2-hour practical and one 1-hour tutorial).

Prerequisites: INM1125, VCE Indonesian or equivalent
