Synopsis: Introduction to design process; problem analysis; creative solutions; selecting preferred design. Topics chosen from: motors, power transmission, gears, drives, participation as design and build projects will be included. Basic mechanical design; stress analysis and allowable stresses; safety factors. Layout drawings and report writing for design.

Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 60% + Assignment work: 40%
