Manufacturing processes (4 points)

Synopsis: The basic forms of manufacturing will be studied. The roles, similarities and differences between various materials including polymers, composites, metals and ceramics. Manufacturing processes chosen from: casting, resins and catalysts; forming including rolling, extrusion, sheet forming and forging; injection and blow moulding; mechanical cutting processes, thermal and chemical cutting processes; joining, welding and adhesives; sintering; manufacture of composite materials; coatings and testing.

Assessment: Examination and tests: 70% + Assignments and projects: 30%
