Mechanics and electronics for industrial design (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit covers the fundamentals of mechanics as applied to consumer products including loads and forces in structures both solid and dynamic. The unit also includes the fundamentals of electronics in product design such as circuit analysis, electrical and magnetic fields, passive and active devices, voltage levels and frequency ranges, safety and regulations as used in a variety of consumer products.

Assessment: Design project: 50%. Examination: 50%

Contact Hours: 6 points + 12 hours per week including; 3 hours per week, including 1 hour lecture and 2 hour tutorial and 9 hours independent study + Second semester, Caulfield + Prerequisites: OHS1000 + Core subject for Bachelor of Industrial Design
