Australian Jewry: History and Society (6 points)

Synopsis: The focus of the unit is on the story of Australian Jewry from the beginnings of European settlement to the present day. A major element will be the contemporary Jewish community: its organisation and place in the general Australian society.

Assessment: Essay (2000 words): 44% + Tutorial presentation (500 words): 12% + Examination (2 hours): 44%

Contact Hours: 2 hour lecture per week and 1 tutorial per fortnight
