Resource Evaluation and Management (12 points)

Synopsis: National and international conflicts over the use of natural resources, eg rainforest destruction, land degradation, pressure on water supplies and common property resources such as the world's oceans. Socio-political-legal aspects of these disputes and the attitudes of various interest groups to the environment. Market-based 'solutions' to environmental problems.

Assessment: Tutorial paper (1500 words): 10% + Essay (5000 words): 40% + Examination (3 hours): 50%

Contact Hours: 3 hours (2 x 1 hour lectures and 1 x 1 hour tutorial) per week

Prerequisites: Major sequence in geography or permission
