Synopsis: Compressibility of soil, settlement, soil compaction, lateral earth pressure, retaining wall, bracing of excavations, sheet pile, geomembrane, subsurface exploration and sampling, soil bearing capacity of shallow and deep foundations, settlement of foundations.

Assessment: Examination: 65% + Assignments, seminar, class tests and laboratory work: 35%
