GSE2002Engineering design and computer-aided drawing (CAD) (4 points)(ENG) Leader: J R Jarvis
Offered: Synopsis: Drawing: Projection of lines and surfaces, letters, numerals, scales; sketching and orthographic projections; projection and isometric drawing; sectioning; conventional representation of common features; dimensioning, fits and tolerance; detail and assembly drawing; introduction to CAD in the engineering workplace. Design projects: A group design project requiring exposure to elements of feasibility study, scheduling, design, organisation, group communication and teamwork. Development of a simple prototype from concept to fabrication. Assessment: Assignments and class tests: 50% + Creative design project: 50% Contact Hours: 39 hours lecture/tutorial/CAD lab, 13 hours supported self-study |
