GSC3901International Journalism (6 points)(ARTS) Leader: Kamal Siddiqi
Offered: Synopsis: This unit considers journalism in both an international and a regional context. Students gain an understanding of Asian values for journalism and the impact this might have on Australian journalism. Issues covered include propaganda, censorship, reporting wars, media ownership, opinion writers, country case studies, and ongoing issues in the media. Assessment: Two media articles (total 1500 words): 50% + Research essay and proposal (total 3000 words): 50% Contact Hours: 2 hours per week (1-hour lecture, 1-hour tutorial) Prerequisites: GSC2903, GSC2905 or GSC2907 or permission (GSC2901 and GSC2902 or equivalents for students who commenced prior to 1999) |
