GSC3406Women's Writing (6 points)(ARTS) Leader: To be advised
Offered: Synopsis: A study of what constitutes "women's writing". Editorial and marketing factors influencing the production of anthologies of women's poetry and fiction. Questions of audience and address. Re-vision as a feminist compositional technique. The genres studied include autobiography, the political essay, prose fiction, poetry, journalism and criticism. Assessment: Minor assignment (2000 words): 50% + Examination (2500 words): 50% + Third-year students will require a higher degree of engagement with critical issues than second-year students Contact Hours: 2 hours per week (1-hour lecture, 1-hour tutorial) Prerequisites: GSC1402, GSC1901 or equivalent Prohibitions: GSC2406 |
