Basic Statistics and Computing for Social Sciences (6 points)

Synopsis: Use of published data - especially Australian Bureau of Statistics, eg labour force, demographic profiles etc. Introduction to statistical analysis (chi-square, t-test and correlation, ie covering both parametric and non-parametric statistics). The use of computers for statistical analysis.

Assessment: Progressive assessment: 70% + Examination (2 hours): 30%

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week (2-hour seminar, 1-hour computer lab session)
