Natural Environment and Human Impact (6 points)

Synopsis: The role of the human impact in environmental change. Basic geographic and ecological principles influencing environmental processes at the global, national and local scale. Case studies of significant environmental impacts, along with appropriate management responses including selected aspects of environmental economics, law and politics are examined. What is the role of individuals, corporations, governments and communities?

Assessment: Written (2000 words): 35% + Examination (2 hours): 40% + Practical work: 15% + Field trip report: 10%

Contact Hours: 4 hours (two 1-hour lectures and one 2-hour practical) per week
