Combustion and heat transfer (6 points)



Gippsland First semester 2003 (Day)

Synopsis: First semester Heat transfer. Steady and unsteady Convection. Radiation. Heat exchanger design. Second semester Chemical reaction and mass balance in the combustion, energy balance, theoretical and actual flame temperature calculation. Availability and energy: concepts; availability balance for closed system, flow availability; second law efficiency. Other energy conversion technologies: solar energy application. Principle of fuel cell.

Assessment: Examinations: 60% + Assignment and experimental report: 40%

Contact Hours: 52 lecture hours and 26 tutorial and laboratory hours
