Sculpture studio 1 (9 points)

Synopsis: This subject introduces students to a range of procedures and management practices employed in the studio. Through a series of set exercises, this subject focuses on developing students' technical, thinking and organizational skills. Topics include the use of materials and tools in sculpture, occupational health, safety and environmental issues as well as projects concentrating on the use of assemblage and elementary fabrication techniques in 'low tech' materials including cane, cardboard, tissue and sheet metal. Introductory sessions in wood carving will also be demonstrated to extend elementary techniques.
