Synopsis: This program is designed to raise students' awareness of postgraduate coursework skills needed for research (particularly in relation to finding information, citation and reference), written and oral communication. It is also designed to assist students in the understanding of their preferred learning approaches and to devise strategies to aid in successful completion of a Masters-by-coursework degree. The program comprises four two-hour modules that address the following areas: Information seeking, citation and referencing. Written communication skills. Oral communication skills - oral presentation and discussion. Learning styles and learning strategies.

Assessment: This unit is graded to PGO (non graded pass). Students are required to attend all four workshops for the unit and will be assessed on their attendance in order to gain a PGO. It is a hurdle requirement before students can enrol into their second semester of study.

Contact Hours: 2-hours per week for 4 weeks (weeks 3-6 of semester)

Prerequisites: Enrolment in the Master of Information Technology, Master of Information Management & Systems or Master of Business Systems (coursework). The unit must be taken by MIT, MIMS and MBus Sys students in their first semester of enrolment
