Adolescent Development and Its Educational Implications (12 points)

Synopsis: Developmental changes in adolescence, including physical, sexual, cognitive, moral and psychosocial development (particularly identity formation). The interaction of individual differences and social context with these developmental processes. The effects of school on adolescents, especially schools' adaptations to adolescent diversity (eg ethnic groups, handicap). The role of the school in helping adolescents develop decision making and life planning skills. Current concerns in adolescent research.

Assessment: Essay (3000-5000 words): 70% + Class presentation: 30%
