Ethical, Clinical and Professional Practice in Counselling Psychology (12 points)

Synopsis: This unit focuses on ethical, legal, and professional issues in psychological practice. Topics include: ethical principles and codes of practice, legal and moral constraints, personal, social and professional values and responsibilities, duty of care, confidentiality and privacy issues, referral, dealing with multiple clients, assessing professional competency, managing boundaries and professional relationships, and ethics in psychological research and reporting.

Assessment: One class presentation and accompanying paper (20 mins each + 2000 words) 35% + one essay (2500 words) 35% + one in-class test*: 30% (*For off-campus students - in-class test shall be given during the one-week Residential school)

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week

Off-campus attendance requirements: When offered off-campus, students must attend a one-week Residential school
