Theory and practice of TESOL (12 points)

Synopsis: Language proficiency and the teaching of English to speakers of other languages over the last forty years. Current research on the nature of speaking, writing, reading and listening and its implications for the teaching in the second-language classroom. Other topics include vocabulary, grammar and integration of language and content (mainstream unit teaching. Methodological approaches. The role of the ESOL teacher in primary, postprimary and adult teaching contexts.

Assessment: Report (2000 words): 20% + Research paper (3000 words): 40% + Participation: 10% + Thinking log: 30%
