Research Seminar and Honours Thesis (24 points)

Synopsis: In the early part of this unit, students will attend a series of seminars presented by staff and visitors to the faculty on topics that reflect current educational issues. They will study various research methods commonly employed for studying such issues. Students will focus on the preparation of a research proposal and engage in dialogue with other students and staff about their proposal. They will carry out a small scale study leading to the writing of their honours thesis in the later part of the year.

Assessment: Thesis of (12000-15000 words): 100%

Contact Hours: 24 hrs per week workload

Prerequisites: Compulsory studies undertaken in the BEd degree or equivalent studies as approved by the Faculty Research Degrees Committee
