Synopsis: This unit introduces the importance of building connections between the learner, the school and community in which the learner is situated whether within Australia or elsewhere. The unit particularly takes a cross-curriculum perspective through exploring the nature and language of school content knowledge. Specifically, student teachers will make connections between different ways of knowing, thinking and engagement with the social world. A variety of pedagogies will be critiqued in the context of evaluation, assessment and reporting but also in relation to the contributions of specific pedagogy to knowledge integration (across the curriculum) and to making connections beyond the classroom.

Assessment: Case Study (Equivalent to 2800 words): 70% + Teaching Plan (Equivalent to 1200 words): 30%
