EDF4667Advanced Studies in Theories of Intervention Practices (6 points)(EDU) Leader: Lecturer in Charge: To be advised
Offered: Synopsis: This unit will provide the student with the opportunity to review and critically appraise theories of intervention practice for specific behavioural and ability areas in both children and adults. An examination of the links between what is currently referred to as special needs intervention and theories of effective teaching, learning contexts. The unit will provide a forum for students to critically evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of current theoretical approaches to intervention. Assessment: A critical essay reviewing the literature in depth on a selected approach to intervention which will include review of the theory and evaluation of intervention methods based upon it (2500 words) (60%); essay on ethical and professional issues in a selected area of intervention (1000 words) (40%); class presentation (10%). |
