Advanced Studies in Theories of Identification & Assessment (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit will provide the student with the opportunity to review the relevant literature and to be able to critically appraise assessment and identification issues for specific behavioural areas in children and adults. The unit will cover the theoretical bases and aspects of procedure in selected areas of assessment and will critically evaluate the highlight major advantages and disadvantages of each approach.

Assessment: A critical essay reviewing the literature in depth on a selected approach to assessment which will include review of the theory and evaluation of assessment methods based upon it (2000 words) (50%): essay on ethical and professional issues in a selected area of assessment or identification (1200 words) (30%): class presentation (800 words) (20%)
