Synopsis: Theory and research in media studies. Social, cultural, aesthetic and educational significance of media texts, especially television texts. Students evaluate selected popular culture and media texts in relation to their own viewing practices as members of the community.

Assessment: Investigative task (1000 words): 30% + Research assignment (2000 words): 70%
