Australian Ecology and Nature Studies (6 points)

Synopsis: The variety of life on earth; the global environment and its basic natural systems. The concepts of three domains of life and the five kingdoms of life. Structure and function of natural systems especially the interrelationships between geological, climatological and ecological processes. The nature of Australian ecology and the evolution of Australian ecosystems. Fieldwork involves an introductory study of a local habitat.

Assessment: Essay (1500 words): 30% + Ecological Fieldwork Journal (2500 words): 70%.
