Lifespan Physical Activity and Wellness (6 points)

Synopsis: Students gain an appreciation of the physical activity and wellness changes across a lifespan from childhood to older adulthood. Changes in the causes of illness and the new emphasis on fitness, wellness and healthy lifestyles have resulted in a shift toward prevention and promotion. The student's learn why people of different ages do and do not participate in physical activity or why they may adopt or avoid health-threatening behaviours. Strategies to engage people in lifestyle physical activity across the lifespan are explored. A large component centres on the students themselves as they undergo a reflection of their current lifestyle and its implications for their future wellbeing.

Assessment: Assignment: 20% + Examination (2 hours): 40% + Healthy lifestyle logbook: 40% + Hurdle requirement: 80% attendance at practicals/tutorials.
