Foundations of Early Childhood Education (6 points)

Synopsis: A study of the theories of Froebel, Steiner, Montessori, McMillan, Malaguzzi and others, and their influence on early childhood education today. The development of early childhood services in Australia, especially theories and societal factors which have shaped them. Philosophical approaches including Reggio Emilia, and developmentally appropriate practices.

Assessment: Class presentation and paper (1200 words) 30%. Essay (3000 words) 70% + Hurdle requirement: 2 week field experience & 3 x one day field observations.
