Synopsis: This unit develops knowledge, skills and attitudes about teaching and learning in primary school mathematics. There will be a particular focus on children's mathematical development in early number concepts, written and mental computation, estimation, measurement and space. Students will explore a range of approaches to the teaching of mathematics including the use of information technology in the context of mathematics (eg., appropriate software, video, calculator use)

Assessment: Written report based on observation of mathematical tasks undertaken by children (2000 words): 50% + Examination: 50% + Hurdle requirement: 80% attendance at tutorials.
