Music Fundamentals (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit is designed as a core offering to enable students to develop the fundamental understandings, theoretical concepts and practical skills necessary for the teaching of primary music through a program of participation in music performance and a range of theoretical problems and exercises. Students will develop an understanding of rhythm, melody, dynamics, tone colour, harmony and music notation through practical activities which may include classroom percussion instruments, guitar, recorder and vocal or choral performance.

Assessment: Folio of music exercises: 30% + Class test: 30% + Practical test: 40%
