Synopsis: This unit has been designed to provide the opportunity for students to explore science as it is presented for public consumption in the media and in public education programs. Aspects of biological, earth, chemical and physical sciences will be addressed by exploring the science of science fiction movies, science in the media and the work of scientists. Learning technologies and multi-media will be a key component of both research and presentation aspects of this unit assessment.

Assessment: Science and the Media Critical response (800 words) 20% + Genetic enhancement issue response (1200 words) 30% + Science Fiction essay (2000 words) 50%.
