Synopsis: The recent economic and social development of selected Asian countries (Japan, Korea, Singapore and India), especially the role of the business sector. Topics include entrepreneurship; technological change; the dynamics of comparative advantage; import substitution versus export-oriented industrial growth; the development state; the stages of business growth.

Assessment: Written (3000 word essay):35% + Tutorial assessment: 15% + Examination (2 hours):50%

Prerequisites: ECW1101 and ECW1102, or equivalent
