Synopsis: Topics covered in the microeconomic section include consumer behaviour, demand and supply, production and costs, general equilibrium and efficiency, and market structures. Topics covered in the macroeconomics section include unemployment, inflation, aggregate demand and aggregate supply, IS, LM and BP curves in the Mundell-Flemming model and government policy debates concerning the level of government debt.

Assessment: Assignments: 30% + Examination (3 hours): 70%

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week (2-hour lecture and 1-hour tutorial) and 9 hours of independent study

Prerequisites: ECW1101 and ECW1102

Prohibitions: ECW2000 and ECW2010
