Synopsis: MultiPulse SCR converter systems; DC Motor variable speed drive systems, power electronic semiconductor devices; high frequency switching; voltage and current source converters; AC synthesis using inverters; 6 step modulation; pulse width modulation algorithms; closed loop current regulation; multilevel inverter systems, AC Motor variable speed drive systems; principles of field orientated motor control.

Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Assignment + Laboratory work: 30%
