Economics of developing countries (6 points)

Synopsis: Definition of economic development; characteristics of developing countries; theories of economic development and underdevelopment; the possible effects and application of agricultural, population, domestic saving, domestic and foreign investment, foreign aid, human resources, and international trade policies on economic development.

Assessment: Written (2400-word essay): 25% + Oral presentation: 5% + Examination (2.5 hours): 70%

Contact Hours: Two 1-hour lectures and one 1-hour tutorial per week

Prerequisites: ECC2000 and ECC2010, or equivalent
